SETTING THE STAGE
The Program
In 2023, Ghetto Film School launched Setting the Stage, an immersion into the art and craft of directing as a filmmaker. Fellows take part in a weekly program which combines Ghetto Film School’s award-winning visual storytelling curriculum with a novel, specially-crafted curriculum that focuses on directing techniques and practical exercises working with actors. Fellows learn from industry experts, visit live sets and performances, and receive free college consulting, all in service of developing their artistry and creating their own original films.
The Students
Aspiring directors, ages 14–18, from the SoHo neighborhood, can apply using the form below. No prior filmmaking experience is required. The Fellowship itself is completely free of charge, with transportation and meals provided throughout. Application deadline is July 3rd, 2024.
If you have any questions, please email the New York Program Director, Jacob Stebel, at jstebel@ghettofilm.org.
