Matthew Hiltzik is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hiltzik Strategies, a strategic communications and consulting firm specializing in corporate communications, crisis management and litigation support, media relations, digital and social media strategy, message development, research and analysis, content creation, and storytelling.
Hiltzik Strategies serves as a trusted advisor and partner to business executives, entrepreneurs, and leaders in media, entertainment, technology, sports, finance, education, public affairs, philanthropy, and other industries. The firm utilizes a fact-based and data‐driven approach, leveraging its network of relationships and wide-ranging experience to help its clients establish, advance, and protect their narratives, reputations, and interest while navigating this dynamic, complex business and media environment.
Matthew is an active member of the New York State Bar Association and began his post-law school career as Press Secretary and Deputy Executive Director of the New York State Democratic Committee, working on the successful 1998 Coordinated Campaign. Matthew also filled various roles on Hillary Clinton’s 1999 “Listening Tour,” which launched her first U.S. Senate campaign, before returning in the summer and fall of 2000 as Director of Jewish Relations.
After leaving politics, Matthew joined Miramax Films, where he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Government Relations, before departing in 2005 to become President and CEO and launch the U.S. operations of the U.K.-based publicity firm Freud Communications. He founded Hiltzik Strategies in 2008.
In 2015, Matthew was appointed by the Mayor of New York City to the board of New York City’s Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and serves as a member of the NYCEDC’s Legal Committee. Matthew is an active board member of The Ghetto Film School, Montclair State University’s School of Communication and Media, The Jewish Week, and the JCRC of New York, and is also a member of the Natan Notable Books Committee. He has produced five documentaries including the award‐winning Paper Clips, Documented, and Holy Land Hardball.
Matthew is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. He lives in Manhattan with his wife Dana and their three children.
